Once again, The Real 2K Insider breaks down 2K's latest roster update and keeps you informed on what 2K would rather keep in the dark.
Note to 2K Sports: Wouldn't it be more productive to put me on the roster team rather than pay someone to read my weekly notes and critiques of your rosters?

PLAYER EDITS
My thoughts on each edit will be added sometime tomorrow (not enough time to do them all).
Also, some of these minor edits were from prior rosters that I didn't notice until now.
Jrue Holiday
78 Overall (+8)
79 3pt (+1)
79 FT (+3)
83 Pass (+17)
82 Steal (+6)
86 Hands (+7)
82 OffAwr (+17) - The starting PG of a team ranked 26th offensively. ROFLTASTIC
73 DefAwr (+8)
80 Consistency (+20) - LMAO
86 Speed (+4)
89 Quickness (+4)
This edit was obviously done because people were complaining about Holiday having a lower rating than Louis Williams (a pretty good player in his own right). 80 Consistency is a joke (the dude has cracked 20 points ONCE this year despite averaging 35 minutes. He does not get hot), while his 82 offensive awareness is outrageously ambitious given that Chauncey Billups and Vince Carter have 84. This is a player averaging a whopping 14 points and 7 assists per 36 minutes. Raymond Felton numbers.
Derrick Rose
88 Overall (+1)
89 Pass (+8)
For what it's worth, that's exactly where I have Rose's pass rating. Now if only 2K would adopt some of my other more realistic ratings for Rose.

Joakim Noah

66 SIT (+21)
66 SIT (+21)
The 2K Insider appears to be reading my blog, because most of what I complain about is actually getting changed week to week (which means people complaining about MY complaining will fall on deaf ears). Last week I noted that the Insider made a Noah edit and yet inexplicably left out boosts to his obviously underrated Medium and SIT ratings. Those have obviously been rectified.

NEW PLAYERS

MISSING PLAYERS
No players are currently missing (it only took 7 weeks).
ROTATION ERRORS
Heat: Zydrunas Ilgauskas has been starting over Joel Anthony all week, but Anthony still starts in 2K's roster.
Kings: Made major changes to starting lineup (Head > Udrih, Greene > Casspi), but those aren't reflected in 2K's roster.
Mavericks: I reported last week that 2K still has Jason Terry starting over DeShawn Stevenson, and the same is still true this week.
Nets: Kris Humprhies has been starting over Troy Murphy. 2K still has Murphy starting even though he's completely out of the rotation. Of course, Hump is still AT LEAST 10 points underrated which is why 2K wouldn't want to make this roster change.
Nuggets: J.R. Smith has played one minute in his last three games. Gary Forbes has taken his spot in the rotation.
Pacers: Jeff Foster is still injured even though he returned from injury the other day.
Raptors: Sonny Weems has been starting over Kleiza, but as with Hump, it's tough to justify starting a 61 overall player.
Spurs: Daniel Green signed with the Spurs on 11-17. Last I checked, this roster is dated 11-18.
Warriors: Brandan Wright is starting over Vladimir Radmanovic for some reason. Oh right, because Radmanovic is a lowly 53 overall. Not because Wright is actually starting.
Wizards: Funny to me that John Wall has been missing games to injury, DID NOT PLAY FRIDAY NIGHT, but is not injured in 2K's roster, and is still in the Wiz' starting lineup. Arenas has been drawing the starts this week, not Wall.
INJURED LIST
New Injuries: Andre Iguodala (76ers), Carlos Delfino (Bucks), Juwan Howard (Heat), Theo Ratliff (Lakers), Robin Lopez (Suns), Nikola Pekovic (Timberwolves), Yi Jianlian (Wizards)
Recovered: Kwame Brown (Bobcats), Randy Foye (Clippers), Ronny Turiaf (Knicks), Chris Wilcox (Pistons), Leandro Barbosa (Raptors), Linas Kleiza (Raptors), Luke Ridnour (Timberwolves)
Incorrect: Jeff Foster recovered and played before this roster was released.
Usable Injured (Minor injury, on active online roster): Darington Hobson (Bucks), Brandon Roy (Blazers)
Greg Oden went from -25 to -10 with his injury changing to "Microfracture Knee Surgery". LOL? For what it's worth, David Lee also went from -7 to -6 (switched to "Inflamed Elbow").
All of these injuries are dissolved when an Association is started, which means this information is primarily relevant to online players. Red denotes a player who cannot be used due to a major injury. All other injuries are considered "minor" and can be played through IF the player is on the active roster (even though EVERY player on this list is NOT playing through their injuries in real life).
76ers: Andre Iguodala (-14)
Bobcats: Dominic McGuire (-10)
Bucks: Chris Douglas-Roberts (-11), Carlos Delfino (-10), Darington Hobson (-4), Michael Redd (-24)
Bulls: Carlos Boozer (-10)
Cavaliers: Mo Williams (-7)
Celtics: Jermaine O'Neal (-10), Kendrick Perkins (-10), Avery Bradley (-12)
Clippers: Baron Davis (-11), Chris Kaman (-24)

Magic: Daniel Orton (-7)
Mavericks: Rodrigue Beaubois (-12)
Nets: None
Nuggets: Kenyon Martin (-10), Chris Andersen (-23)
Pacers: Jeff Foster (-19)
Pistons: Terrico White (-11), Jonas Jerebko (-20)
Raptors: Ed Davis (-8)
Rockets: Yao Ming (-10), Aaron Brooks (-24)
Spurs: James Anderson (-10)
Suns: Robin Lopez (-9)
Thunder: Nick Collison (-8)
Timberwolves: Jonny Flynn (-6), Martell Webster (-6), Nikola Pekovic (-7)
Trail Blazers: Brandon Roy (-11), Greg Oden (-10), Joel Przybilla (-22), Elliot Williams (-20)
Warriors: David Lee (-6), Ekpe Udoh (-11), Louis Amundson (-8)
Wizards: Yi Jianlian (-9), Josh Howard (-23)
Free Agents: Jeff Pendergraph (-21)
For the most part, injured players are moved to the IR, regardless of their status, but in some cases, teams suffer so many injuries that there isn't enough room on the IR. If that player has "Yellow" status, it means they can still be used in online games. This will surely come into play later in the season, but for now there is only one injured player still on their team's active roster.

i like this page. +favorite. question tho, do you feel that taj gibson is deserving of yet another increase? his d on dirk in the 4th and his hustle and crazy dbl dbl was great to watch
The Hornets have the best record in the league, yet the insider has hardly touched them since the season started.
Also, does the insider adjust coaching ratings? If so, Monty Williams's ratings need to be adjusted drastically, especially for defense. He is currently a D if I'm not mistaken and it should really be at least a B+ or A-.
You really are a good analyzer of basketball and this blog is very interesting to read.
But if i were 2k i wouldn't hire you either.... just from reading your blogs it seems you have little teamwork skills, are very up yourself and have little to no criticism skills.
Maybe if you focused more on ratings rather then bashing the insider every chance you get, they'd eventually hire you.
dude, this blog rules! added to my favorites! please keep this good work in the next updates!
I would like to see you get this job.
but a comment above refering to people skills, teamwork, and constructive criticism you dont do well with.
its your way or the highway, and your riding that train by yourself.
your the engineer, 1st class and caboose.
Rashidi,
I'm not sure what 2k is thinking...,
Dahntay Jones of the Pacers only dropped 2 overall points. It is clear that he is not in the future plans and brings nothing more than solid defense to the team and yet he is still rated higher than Dunleavy ( underrated at 63 ovr, despite scoring well all season)and Rush.. that should be brought to light, so maybe 2k can realize the mistake.
Some guys who are in need of major upgrading/Downgrading:
Sonny Weems - at least a 66 ovr, as he has shown the ability to score and has athleticism that Kleiza obviously lacks right now, compliments Derozan as well.
Jason Smith - should be moved up to around 65 ovr, solidly producing off the bench, as he has shown the ability to knock down jump shots consistently.
Marco Belinelli - has finally picked it up this season, largely in part due to Chris Paul, should move up to a 68 ovr.
Marcus Thornton - move to 66 ovr.. major decrease needed as he is struggling this season in limited minutes.
Mareese Speights - 76ers - has not played much this season, limited production when he has, yet is rated higher than Hawes, 68 ovr would still be higher than Hawes, but more justified.
Joey Graham - Cavs - Has produced lately but 68 ovr is still too high, was thinking more like 64-65 ovr...
Gerald Henderson is still rated a 67 ovr, despite only averaging 3.8 ppg. Major decrease which I know you have done already.
Corey Maggette - has not shown the knack for scoring this season and has been playing hurt. around 73 ovr should be about right.
Ronnie Brewer is also struggling in the Bulls offense but is still rated a 71 ovr. should be bumped down to a 68 ovr.
Chris Kaman has struggled as well, even before the injury he has shown that with Blake Griffin in town, he is not the same scorer and rebounder as last season. He should be bumped down to 76 ovr.
Darrell Arthur should be bumped up as he filled in nicely with Randolph out earlier in the year, he has shown a nice scoring touch and should be around a 66 ovr.
Maurice Evans is still a 67 ovr, despite being injured and performing poorly so far this season, he is rated one point higher than Marvin Williams. a 64 ovr should be about right.
James Jones should have a slight increase on shooting ability alone as he is rated a 58 ovr. 62 ovr should be enough of a justifiable raise.
CJ Miles is still a 58 ovr despite his athletic ability and scoring prowess off the bench. he has struggled this season some, but a 64 ovr should at least be warranted.
Brendan Haywood should see a slight decrease as he is coming off the bench behind Chandler at Center, he has not scored well, although he rebounds nicely off the bench in spurts. 69 ovr should be about right.
Tyson Chandler should see an increase as he has performed solidly with Jason Kidd and rebounds the ball well as the starting center. 69 ovr should be about right.
Terrence Williams has struggled this season with his shooting and has been injured for the past few games but has not played. at a 75 ovr he is extremely rated too high. 69 ovr should be around where he is right now.
Anthony Morrow - has shown he can put up solid numbers as a starter and should be around 68 ovr.
Damion James is a 70 ovr despite being the 4th string SF, he should be around 64 ovr.
Kris Humphries has performed well in the starting PF role and has shown quite an ability to score and rebound. a 71 ovr should be enough of an increase.
Troy Murphy has been hurt so far this year and deserves a decrease on the numbers he has put up so far. a 70 ovr is about right.
Brook Lopez has struggled as well despite having a 78ovr. he should be around a 75 - 76 ovr.
Shelden Williams has been starting all season for Denver and has done a solid job. he has rebounded solidly and shown a small sample of scoring ability when needed. a 65 ovr should be enough of an increase.
A.J price has performed well off the bench for the Pacers as TJ ford's backup. he should see an increase of his 53 ovr to 61 ovr.
Austin Daye should see a increase as he has been starting at PF and performed decently, thus right now he is rated a 59 ovr at PF. should be around 64-65.
Demar Derozen - has been a bright spot for the Raptors on offense and should be rated around a 68 ovr on athleticism alone..
Leandro Barbosa has been injured for much of the season and his wrist has knocked down his shooting percentages yet he is still a 74 ovr. a 68 ovr should do him justice.
Patrick Patterson has been sent to the D-League and has yet to play an NBA game but is rated higher then Miller and hayes and Hill. Should be around 65-66 ovr.
Josh Childress should be a SG and rated lower than 74 ovr. as he has struggled in the Suns offense as he can't shoot well enough from outside. a 69-70 ovr should be around where he should be.
Darko Milicic should be higher than Koufos as he has started every game. he has shown improvement lately despite starting the season terribly. a 62 ovr should be plenty.
Wes Matthews should see a slight bump in ovr as he has performed well on both offense and defense in Roy's absence. a 69-70 ovr should be enough.
Vlad Radmanovic should be upped as he has been playing off the bench over Wright and has shown some decent shooting numbers. a 59-61 ovr should be plenty. B.Wright should be lowered slightly as well.
Gilbert Arenas should be lowered as he is just not the same player anymore, yet he is higher rated ovr than Devin Harris despite putting up less numbers across the board. a 77-78 ovr should do him justice.
Yeah, but I would say Rashidi's way is right 95% of the time. Rating players shouldn't be a matter of judgement. You should have a rigorous scale that applies to all players without bias. The insider gives into bias and his rating changes hardly ever make sense.
Pointing out mistakes is hardly bashing.
CJ Miles is still a 58 ovr despite his athletic ability and scoring prowess off the bench. he has struggled this season some, but a 64 ovr should at least be warranted.

I'm not the best ratings observer, but those stick out to me as needed changes... what are your thoughts Rashidi?
To above poster(s):
I don't think a player should be dropped if he's playing hurt. If it's a nagging injury that's effecting play, let it heal before passing judgment.
Barbosa has a bad wrist AND shoulder and still is playing decent. His numbers are down, but not is he playing hurt, he's playing less because he IS hurt. He played 5 seconds more than Linas Kleiza, also playing hurt, who played the least today in the Raps win over the Cs. Barbosa was 3-6 (1-3 3PT) for 12 points with 2 steals and 5 assists. Not exactly stinking it up despite being beat up.
DeRozan went off during the Raptors recent road trip but hasn't played well offensively the last few games, although that might have more to do with everyone else stepping it up during the 3 game winning streak the Raps are on. Still deserves a bump up in most categories except 3PT shooting which he has disappointed on after his incredible shooting during LVSL.
((So as not to break down every Raptor; I'd say most deserve an adjustment in either direction))

Dahntay Jones is still a decent player, it's just that he doesn't fit Indiana's system (three point attack).
To those who said Rashidi lacks "people skills," well maybe he does and maybe he doesn't. My answer is who gives a crap? Nobody's talking about how Rashidi should be a Congressman or a talk show host. We're talking about him being the guy who edits player ratings in a video game. It's hard to ignore the fact that even though he's rough around the edges, he has by far a better and more consistent methodology than 2k.
The problems with 2k's ratings have been well documented. Stars overrated in many areas. Bench players ignored for years despite showing clear improvement. Big men who all move like Yao despite guys like Amare and Dwight being faster than many guards down the floor. Small market teams ignored.
I wish we could adjust coaching ratings but that will probably only be possible on PC once the roster editor comes out. I don't know why anyone would play this on console. It's only as good as it is moddable because it will always necessarily be a rushed and glitchy game.
Dammit Rashidi, I'm a PC user and I want your rosters so damn badly. I'm counting the days until the roster editor comes out as it's rumored to have a feature to import xbox roster riles.
Out of the box the game is nigh unplayable. AI Boozer or AI Bargnani fling up 37 shots a game, the sliders are much tougher to get right than last year (just try getting realistic numbers of non-steal turnovers, off-ball fouls, or offensive rebounds), and offensive fouls have apparently been removed from the NBA rulebook.
Sad thing is, I'm not sure the dev team knows enough about basketball to understand that any of those things are even wrong. There's a preset slider configuration called "Simulation." Try a 48 minute AI vs AI game with that and note the resulting stats. That's what 2k thinks NBA basketball is like, which is a very discouraging sign.
Nice man, since i started putting your Raing Changes in my NBA 2K11 i feel like it's playing like the NBA
Any update on when you're most updated roster will come out? On another post I saw you say Sunday, but that date has past. Thanks!
that one guy might be going off a older roster.
also he is to concerned about the word or thing that is wait for it..
the OVERALL.
Show the changes to Westbrook and Durant. I hate how they be dogging Westbrook. 60 SIT and 76 med shot. He's shooting 45% from the field. Also, i don't understand how Russell is 3 ratings lower than Rose but he is more complete. Rose is slightly better offensively.

At this point I think it's worth it for me to wait until Wednesday, as I will be busy for the holidays.
so theoreticly, the next update will occur on wednesday?
That is the plan.
A patch! Hallelujah, a patch!

Oh nevermind. Won't be out for a few weeks still. Nothing about post offense being ridiculous either.
Patch is out tomorrow unless I'm reading the post or the actual date today wrong.
...-facepalm-
My fault, I forgot I play this on XBOX and not PC.
If I just join Xbox Live when the patch is out, will it be downloaded to my console automatically? I mean, like all the other games updates?
The game should automatically ask you to download the patch when you start the same if you are online.
no new updates yet?
Waiting for the next update before I start my association. Can't deal with 2k's rating
Does that mean that because I'm already going through a season mode that I'd have to start again because the patch is out? Or can I keep on going and the patch just adds into the season mode?
Rashidi I think you have Amar'e's hands slightly over rated at 85, he's fumbled passes a few time in traffic this year. I have it at an 83 and I might bump it down to 81, just food for thought.
Patch out and still no complete roster? What happened?

Thursday now ?
Ended up working last night.
Rashidi is your newest roster the same base roster you've been using or are you using the one with updated player models? We'll get it after the holidays I'm assuming?
There's one with NEW PLAYER models???
What I mean is there are certain rookie's who hadn't been added to the game when Rashidi started releasing his rosters (Landry Fields, Lance Stephenson etc) so he had to use created players, my question is whether he's going to use the same base roster he's been using (with CAPs) or a newer one (with 2k models)
he won't be using the one with updated models as they have player injures in them.
injuries*
What about Darko?... The guy's been great for the wolves...averaging 18 and 8 for the last 5 games and is currently tied for the league lead in blocked shots...I am sure he deserves to be rated higher than JOEL ANTHONY on your rosters!... The guy is on the verge of being out of the rotation, had it not been for UDs injury he would be at the end of the bench!! But somehow Mana's worse!!??
Note to 2 K Sports: Wouldn' t it be more
productive to put me on the roster team rather
than pay someone to read my weekly notes
and critiques of your rosters?
No, it.wouldnt... Cuz then we wouldnt get rosters @ all!!!!

To be fair to 2k now, in there 11-24-10 update Darko is now a 67 IIRC, which I think until he can keep up his pace over a season, he belongs.

Correct.

I already have Darko > Anthony, but I will look at Darko again since that was mostly off last year's production and not his recent run (albeit one that has seen him average a TON of turnovers).
"he won't be using the one with updated models as they have player injuries in them.
Correct."
Same anon that posted above you. I'm sure 90% of people use you're rosters for Association, in which pre-exsisting injuries aren't used. Could you not technically just edit the injured players to your liking and then once they were in dynasty they'd be what you edited them to? If it would be too time consuming, you could very easily get help from the community.

That's why I asked, I don't see the benefit in using a roster with no injuries.
Not that it really matters, but you have Lance Stephenson with a $7 mil contract right now. About 10x too big.
