Simulation Stats: Lakers vs Celtics

Here's an example of a game you'll get with my rosters. I've been working on my player/coach tendencies and they should be completed by the end of the break.

Lakers
110 Points
46-82 FG (56%)
7-13 3PT (53%)
11-12 FT (91%)
31 Assists
12 Turnovers
9 Fouls
40 Rebounds (10 Offensive)
9 Steals
2 Blocks
54 Points in Paint (49%)
28 Bench Points (25%)
8 Second Chance Points (7%)
2 Fast Break Points (1%)

Celtics
93 Points
38-74 FG (51%)
4-15 3PT (26%)
13-17 FT (76%)
27 Assists
13 Turnovers
8 Fouls
27 Rebounds (4 Offensive)
8 Steals
4 Blocks
44 Points in Paint (47%)
10 Bench Points (10%)
0 Second Chance Points (0%)
4 Fast Break Points (4%)

I don't mind the high FG% because it compensates for teams not going to the line enough in the game.

Scoring by qtr
Celtics: 26-18-21-28
Lakers 26-36-27-21

LAKER STATS (Pts-Reb-Ast-Stl-Blk)

Josh Powell: 4-0-0-0-0 (2-2 FG) - 4 mins

+/- Hero: Andrew Bynum (+22)
+/- Goat: DJ Mbenga (-12)

The SGs just could not be stopped. Brown caught fire, scoring 6 points in the last 1:15 of the 1st quarter, and added 4 more points in the next 3 mins of the 2nd. Kobe subbed him for him and scored 14 points in the final 6 mins of the 2nd, completely breaking the game open.

CELTICS STATS
Kendrick Perkins: 12-4-2-2-2 (5-5 FG, 2-4 FT) - 35 mins
Kevin Garnett: 18-14-3-1-1 (7-16 FG, 4-4 FT) - 36 mins
Paul Pierce: 16-1-7-0-0 (8-18 FG, 0-2 3PT) - 36 mins, 3 turnovers
Ray Allen: 30-2-1-2-1 (11-17 FG, 4-9 3PT, 4-4 FT) - 36 mins

Tony Allen: 0-0-1-0-0 (0-1 FG, 0-1 3PT) - 17 mins
Eddie House: 4-0-3-0-0 (2-4 FG, 0-1 3PT) - 14 mins
Glen Davis: 4-0-0-0-0 (2-3 FG) - 12 mins

+/- Hero: Kevin Garnett (+9)
+/- Goat: Tony Allen (-28) - in only 17 mins!

Ray Allen was on fire, and the Celtics were dead in the water when he wasn't in the game. His backup, Tony Allen, contributed absolutely nothing and was actually the one the Laker guards torched on defense. Perkins had a decent game but got wrecked on the glass by Bynum which cost the team numerous possessions.

Yeah, I'm actually glad 2K doesn't make fouling realistic. How unfair would that be for Heat users to get foul calls every time Wade drives into the lane.

Ohoho! I see what you did there! It would be more accurate to apply that to LeBron though, sir Anonymous.

Also, isn't it possible to adjust the rate of foul calls? Or is that just for games that you are actually playing?

Without adjusting sliders, no.

Every player has two foul tendencies: commit foul, and draw foul; however, if you screw with that too much it will affect associations.

For instance, if you ever sign Greg Oden when he becomes a free agent, he inevitably becomes unhappy due to his playing time.

He'll only play like 25 mpg in simulations even if you allocate all 48 minutes to him, and the reason is because of foul trouble. His foul tendencies are too high, and sadly, there isn't a single rating that will change that. 100 DefAwr won't mean a damn thing.

Foul drawing shouldn't be a tendency. It should be a rating, as not everyone is capable of drawing a foul. That way, it could improve or regress with time, but instead every player will be stuck with the same foul rate even though this naturally improves over time.

My point btw, was raising foul tendencies for players would create more problems and possibly even kill association mode.

My goal is to balance and accurately depict the NBA. If someone wants to adjust the gameplay sliders, it's entirely up to them. Some prefer a foul heavy game, some don't.

To be quite honest, we don't play basketball games to get to the free throw line. The FT line is the most boring and unskillful way to score points in all of basketball. If that means a couple more assists for me because I never go to the line, so be it.

We don't play the game to generate realistic stats, we play it to enjoy it.
