I'm not finished writing it up yet, but this is my way of letting you know the roster was released and there were a huge amount of changes.  I've been slacking lately on the updates as I have been very busy lately, but hopefully this should suffice for most.

ROTATION UPDATES

Toney Douglas has emerged as the NY Knicks' starting point guard.  I am not a huge Douglas fan, but he certainly deserves it over Chris Duhon (who has completely fallen out of the rotation since the trade deadline).  I would honestly like to know why Nate Robinson couldn't even get into games under Mike D'Antoni, but the moment the Knicks trade Nate, D'Antoni immediately benched Duhon in favor of a career 3rd stringer who never ran a minute of the system (Sergio Rodriguez) and a rookie whose offensive flaws (namely, running a team) are exactly the same.  At least we know Mike doesn't let his personal feelings dictate his coaching strat... OH WAIT.

Too scared to post on Gamefaqs?

Shelb said...

^Idiot.

I think DeMar DeRozan's played enough for an adjustment, no?

Good to see Amir Johnson and Deron Williams get their earned bumps

Well done as usual

I think a couple of Spurs need changes, namely Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili.

Timmy's numbers have dropped across the board since the all-star break and his offensive efficiency has decreased also.

Ginobili's mid-range game and ability to finish off of drives have seen the biggest improvement.

Hopefully, you can change their ratings to reflect their recent play.

...where/why am I supposed to post on gamefaqs?

Rashidi said...

Demar's abilities don't play well with SG overall rating. He's not a good scorer. His defense isn't great either, he's still a young athlete and honestly wouldn't start for any team other than Toronto.

Rashidi said...

I'll check Duncan, but Ginobili is shooting like 24% from mid-range, and this isn't a recent occurance either - he has always been that bad from mid-range. He is strictly a driver/3pt shooter.

Shelb said...

I wasn't excepting a rise in DD's rating, just some tweats. He's had some good rebounding games (as has Weems) and picks up a good amount of offensive boards when he plays well. He's terribly inconsistant (which is understandable, at any given time on the floor he's at best the third option and is a rookie,, obviously) but when he plays well he usually has afew more rebounds than I find he gets in the game. I know he's only averaging 3 a game (1 offensive) but he'll go streches off games where it's 2-3-0-4-5-6-2-7-3-6 rebounds. Better games, more minutes for him increases his rebounding.

And yeah, no chance he starts on any other team. Shouldn't be starting the Raptors either, but Triano's hell bend on "building his confidence, helping him adapt to the NBA" even though it's effecting team play and Triano will not be around to see this guy play in his 3rd year. Oh well.

Other players, maybe since I usually play with the Raptors, but Jennings still seems to make a few too many shots.

I like your changes but I have a question. Do you know what shot in traffic affects for a player? Tyreke only has 67 and I figured it was about a player's ability to make shots/layups with contact. Tyreke is great at it but if his rating is that low maybe I misunderstood the rating.

I noticed Al Jefferson has a very high SIT which would make sense. I'm sure he can take a hit with how big he is but I'm still not sure if the rating means what I thought it to be.

Anonymous said...

damn does kobe really only deserve 72 sit???

Anonymous said...

Rashidi,

I still think Ginobili needs a boost in your next update. He's really playing better than your (81) rating indicates. He's gotten his legs back and can finish strong at the rim, again.

Plus, his overall game has been outstanding as of late with a spike in rebounds, assists and steals. He's not the same player of 5 years ago, but he definitely is better than the beginning of the season.

Rashidi ur da man. Im not saying to suck up to you. Im saying that bcuz ur the only one I kno of who notices how well Marcus Thorton is playing. Thank you 4 that. By the way may i plz get some Lebron's ratings. Sorry im a nba 2k10 pc gamer. thx in advance

Rashidi said...

There are many guards with high SIT. These players already have high SOD. It's really the front court players who are shooting in traffic a great deal more than guards just by the nature of where they're shooting (the teeth of the defense).

A guy like Kobe, I mean, I really wouldn't count a post fadeaway or stepback as "In Traffic". He is a finesse player. He doesn't drive into the teeth of the defense looking to draw contact anywhere near as much as someone like LeBron or Wade.

Rashidi said...

SIT Rashidi
LeBron: 79
Durant: 78
Melo: 77
Wade: 76
Kobe: 72
Roy: 68
Deron: 63
Paul: 60
Nash: 50

SIT 2K Sports
LeBron: 84
Kobe: 84
Durant: 83
Melo: 82
Wade: 81
Paul: 76
Nash: 75
Deron: 73
Roy: 73

I did seem to lower the ratings for perimeter players (pretty much across the board) but the players are also accurately rated, which is more than you can say for 2K Sports.

Kobe = LeBron?
Nash +2 > Deron & Roy?
Roy = Deron?

Rashidi said...

In fact I think I'm going to make a blog post regarding this.

Rashidi said...

I already have Ginobili rated as the #5 SG in the game (behind bonafide all-stars Kobe, Wade, Roy, and Johnson). Believe me, he is fine. I am one of the few people out there who knows what a great player Manu is year in and out. He is a great all-around player, but he isn't without flaws. His mid-range game is very poor and this is what really holds him back from being on say, Joe Johnson's level.

Prior to Manu's explosion (which is happening because Tony Parker is out of the way), he was not having a good year and many people were calling for a decrease. I withheld because he still showed the same perephirals - the only thing that had declined was his inside scoring ability (and this is what has picked up of late).

Can someone, anyone post the transfer kit version (.z36) of this roster file? Not everyone has xbox live to enjoy these fine rosters =(. Thanks!
