NBA 2K17 Roster Analysis (11/30/16)

2K Sports released the largest roster update in the companies history, at least as far as Overall ratings are concerned.  No less than 227 players had their Overall rating updated in today's update (granted, the last update was about 2-3 weeks ago).  That is a little over half of the entire league!

Normally I would write a blurb about each team but there is simply too much for me to cover.  Hit me on Twitter if you want any of my specific thoughts on the direction being taken with various teams and players.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
83/C Joel Embiid (+3)
78/C Jahlil Okafor (-1)
75/PG Jerryd Bayless (+1)
75/PG Sergio Rodriguez (-1)
74/SG Nik Stauskas (+5)
73/SF Robert Covington (-2)
73/SF Hollis Thompson (+1)
72/PF Dario Saric (-2)
72/PF Richaun Holmes (+2)

Joel "The Process" Embiid continues his trek towards Rookie of the Year.  He now ranks 9th among centers in 2K Overall rating.

After three years, Nik Stauskas has finally arrived.  Sauce Castillo is shooting 45% from 3pt range and is averaging 10 points off the Sixers bench.  Not bad for a player who wasn't a lock to make the team.

MILWAUKEE BUCKS
87/SF Giannis Antetokounmpo (+2)
80/PF Jabari Parker (+1)
75/C John Henson (+1)
75/PF Mirza Teletovic (-1)
73/PG Matthew Dellavedova (-2)
73/SF Tony Snell (+1)
72/SG Malcolm Brogdon (+2)
70/C Miles Plumlee (-1)

CHICAGO BULLS
90/SG Jimmy Butler (+2)
77/PF Taj Gibson (+1)
77/PG Rajon Rondo (-2)
73/PF Bobby Portis (-1)
71/PG Jerian Grant (-1)
68/SF Denzel Valentine (-5)
64/SG R.J. Hunter (-1)

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
85/PF Kevin Love (+1)
75/SG J.R. Smith (-2)
72/SF Mike Dunleavy (-1)
69/SG Jordan McRae (-1)
67/SG DeAndre Liggins (-1)

Kevin Love is tied with LeBron for the team lead in PER.  Who thought we'd ever see the day?  Love is finally putting up the gaudy numbers he had in Minnesota.

J.R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, and Mike Dunleavy have all struggled to shoot the ball this year.  J.R. in particular is hitting an incredulously poor 19% of his 2PT field goals (he hasn't hit a single shot this year between 3 and 23 feet..\

BOSTON CELTICS
87/PG Isaiah Thomas (+1)
84/C Al Horford (-1)

84/PF Paul Millsap (-2)
77/PG Dennis Schroder (-1)

75/C Kyle O'Quinn (-1)
72/SG Justin Holiday (+2)
71/C Willy Hernangomez (+2)
68/SG Sasha Vujacic (-1)

How poorly does Carmelo Anthony need to play in order to see his rating drop?  The team belongs to Porzingis now.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS

66/PG Semaj Christon (+1)

Westbrook is averaging 31/9/10 and might be the first modern player to achieve Oscar Robertson's mythical season (to be fair, LeBron and Westbrook are vastly better rebounders than Roberson and would have averaged 12-15 rebounds in the 60s simply due to pace).

If it wasn't for you, 2Ks ratings would still suck. I think you indirectly helped elevate their player ratings game.
