Rashidi said...

I'm still waiting to hear what Knick players I have overrated besides Anthony "Golden State" Randolph.

Rashidi said...

The Bargnani shot wasn't a terrible play, he had the smaller Raymond Felton on him, he just had to rush it due to the clock and didn't get enough on it.

Raps are the 3rd worst 3pt shooting team in the league so it's not like there were any other realistic options (only guys over 30% are Bayless, Calderon, and Bargnani). When the guy has 41 points you just put it in his hands and hope for the best.

tgballin said...

I see what your saying rashidi.
A.Randolph nice.

i wonder about Dantoni sometimes, i watched their training camp on nba tv he acts like a nut.

sometimes he would get mad about something and then it would happen again with another player and he would smile.

on another note though, which arm did A.Bogut hurt?
bc last night it looked ok for the tip in buzzer beater!
tho i did see him holding it in pain at times. i actually think he will be ok in time.

which sucks b'c i Boguts a good player.

Rashidi said...

Healthy Stojakovic would change that end of game dynamic.

CelphProclaimed said...

Randolph not playing has nothing to do with his skill level, D'Antoni is well known for running out 7 maybe 8 main guys in his rotation, everyone else on the team gets totally buried for the most part.

I think everyone can admit that Randolph's skills are better then his production due to lack of minutes. This was the case in GS due to injuries and Don Nelson's whacky rotations. Now that he's moved to NY it was assumed that he'd get his chance, but it's the same story due to Mike D's whacky roations.

At some point if this doesn't change you'd have to assume that something's up if he seems like such a physical beast but has consistently been unable to be an impact player. It's convenient to say that it's not his fault and that it's the coach that's holding him back, but at some point, the good players are going to find theur way into the game.

Lunatic Wolf said...

It is only Randolph's 3rd year. It will be really telling if he can play or not once he becomes a free agent.

@Rashidi: I think this is the most comments I have ever seen on this blog. Congrats!

NBA 2k11 BEAST

NO!

Rashidi said...

but at some point, the good players are going to find theur way into the game.

Right. It took Nate Robinson the entire month of December.

Randolph doesn't even make it into garbage time. Timofey Mozgov has started nearly as many games (9 of his 21) as Randolph has played (11 of 23). This is 100% about the coach and not the player.

For those keeping track at home - Mozgov is shooting 37% from the field, commits a turnover on 29% of possessions, and averages 7.2 fouls per 36 minutes. This is the player keeping Randolph on the bench.

The few things Mozgov DOES do well (rebounding and shot blocking), Randolph does even better.

I wonder how much time Randolph would get if he were European.

Rashidi said...

Shawne Williams is a game away from eclipsing Randolph's minutes mark (88 to 100).

SHAWNE WILLIAMS

Yo Rashidi, big fan, what rating do you have Nowitzki at? Any chance of giving a few ratings a boost so he gets a chance at MVP in the association? He's been playing incredibly well this season and has really improved on things he used to struggle with in past years this season.

Anonymous said...

Rashidi, can you show the top 10 players ratings o toy .com please

if too much, work, right here
can you tell me the ratings for all players of the HEAT and RAPTORS

Anonymous said...

Randolph HAS played, just not as much as he has before. When he has been on the court he has been one of the worst players in the entire league this season, and it is coming off an injury.

Although his injury isn't the same as Bogut's, the circumstances are similar in some respects and there is definitely a little homerism going on here with Randolph. He should get dropped down to somewhere between his production this season and earlier until he proves otherwise.

Anonymous said...

Randolph can't get minutes because he is aweful when he sees any minutes. Felton is also is alittle overrated but Rashidi is a Knick homer and overrates his whole team. He sees the good in all the Knicks but not the bad. Your Knick blinded.

Anonymous said...

WHERES RASHIDI !

Shelb said...

The Knicks are playing out of their mind right now. Felton is playing great.

When the Knicks come down to the Earth (soon), the ratings will reflect the performance. There's a reason everyone is talking about the Knicks right now... they're the hottest team in the league and Amare the hottest player.

Lunatic Wolf said...

Hottest in the East perhaps. Mavs are scorching the West.

Rashidi said...

Randolph can't get minutes because he is aweful when he sees any minutes.

Timofey Mozgov has been worse and he's still in the rotation.

Felton is also is alittle overrated but Rashidi is a Knick homer and overrates his whole team. He sees the good in all the Knicks but not the bad. Your Knick blinded.

Kudos anonymous, on not realizing how great Felton has been compared to previous seasons.

Felton
20.3 PER (last: 15.2)
.588 TS% (last: .525)
3.5 ORB% (last: 2.5)
8.2 DRB% (last: 10.5)
35.9 AST% (last: 29.5)
2.7 STL% (last: 2.5)
0.6 BLK% (last: 0.7)
18.6 TO% (last: 15.4)
22.3 USG% (last: 19.2)

Worth noting that last season was Felton's career year - he has improved SUBSTANTIALLY over the last two seasons.

Compare that production to say,

John Wall
18.2 PER
.521 TS%

0.4 ORB%
10.4 DRB%
39.5 AST%
3.3 STL%
1.0 BLK%
18.2 TO%
23.7 USG%

How is Felton overrated again?

Rashidi said...

Randolph HAS played, just not as much as he has before.

100 minutes through the first 24 games (only THREE of which he missed due to a sprained ankle) qualifies as "playing"? He is averaging a paltry 9 mpg in the games he managed to get on the court... quick, whats 100 divided by 21?

A grand total of 16 of those minutes came with Stoudemire on the court, a mere 6 of them with the starting unit. Compare that to Mozgov who has started 9 games and played 93 minutes with the starting unit.

To imply that he has gotten a fair chance is ludicrous.

TheMove said...

Bogut had 24 points, 22 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead the Bucks over the Houston Rockets.

"You go to the hole and you see somebody like Bogut, just the presence of being down there, we don’t have anybody like that,” said Kevin Martin“We’ll just take our punches.”

Bogut said the stretch has boosted his outlook moving forward after previously saying he believed it may take him all season to fully recover from last year’s injury.

“Definitely, definitely,” Bogut said. “My arm is starting to feel better game in and game out, I’m doing much more treatment than I was in preseason and it’s responding well. So, getting some confidence in the past four games, four double-doubles, I’m going to just keep working.”

Feer The Deer said...

Someone should of told Bogut that Rashidi said he would never recover from his injury because he read that on the internet. Even though Bogut his self said he would fully recover but it might take all season. Which Im sure it will take the whole season to recover but hes looking better and better every game.

Andrew Bogut...

lewie said...

I agree that Bogut is to low. I watched him turn into a beast mode last nite against my Rockets. Bogut should be rated in the low 80s. by far the 2nd best center in the NBA no questions asked.

Rashidi said...

FYI, I have Bogut at 79 right now.

I monitor this league on a daily basis.

Rashidi said...

The 79 also came before the 22/23 game, so who knows, maybe he'll reach 80 again by the end of the weekend.

Rashidi said...

I agree that Bogut is to low. I watched him turn into a beast mode last nite against my Rockets.

What center doesn't? You guys start 6'6" Chuck Hayes.

Ian said...

Can't wait to see Bogut put up numbers. It's been really depressing watching a broken, close-range Bogut so far this season. His recovery is more than welcome.

As for the smug Bucks comments and quotes, I don't see how Rashidi is a villain for downgrading an Andrew Bogut whose play has clearly been suffering up to this point.

To take it so personally is a shame.

Rocko said...

Im gonna say the majority of ppl that use Rashidi's rosters use them for a association. So they don't want a player rated based off his last 5 games in the NBA. Rashidi's rosters are good for play now games or would be very good for online games if you could use them. But the only use for Rashidi's rosters is a season which his rosters are not the best to use.

Ian said...

Ah, well I should probably remove myself from the argument then, as I'm not really an association guy.

One last quick jab though; Folks should just change the stats themselves instead of getting worked into froth with an editor. No one cares what you do with your own rosters.

But, then again, it's so much fun to read.

Lunatic Wolf said...

I have never seen Rashidi post stats from a players last 5 games to justify his ratings. It is always season stats.

Anonymous said...

Derrick Rose is currently shooting 41.6% from three.
He hit 5 for 6 tonight. I do believe that warrants a rating boost.

Do you really think Shannon Brown is one of the best shooters in the NBA period? Players liek that is where common sense should kick in.

Rashidi said...

I wish I saw the Pistons Raptors game that saw Ben Wallace drop 23 points including a three. Also 14 boards, 4 assists, and 5 steals. That's just insane.

Lunatic Wolf said...

Damn, didn't know Wallace still had those numbers in him.

Anonymous said...

Andrea Bargnani is a really good defender, as we know.

Rashidi said...

For those keeping score, it's Wallace's 6th career three and first since 2007.

Anonymous said...

Rashidi are the THunders complete??

Shelb said...

Wallace and the whole Pistons team were having one of those nights were everything went right for them. Raptors were down 25 while shooting 65% at the half.

Until the Raptors forced turnovers instead of turning it over themselves. Even TMac looked decent that night, until the game got realistic.

ATL's own said...

I know this is a bit of a homer comment but

Mo Evans has stunk it up all season, Damien Wilkins has taken his mins as the team's "pesky defender/hustle guy"

Bibby is leading the league in 3pt shooting

Josh Powell's midrange is onpoint this season

Jeff Teague & Jordan Crawford are rated a bit high.

Rashidi, How are you doing for shoot rating ?

Hoopsdata 10-15 feet shooting =/= close shot from NBA Hotspots.

LeBron James close shot from NBA hotspots for 2009-2010:
52-140 .371

LeBron James close shot (10-15 feet)from Hoopsdata for 2009-2010:
29-90 .322

I don't know if NBA hotspots including shoot under 10 feet in close shot, what do you think ?

Lunatic Wolf said...

Don't listen to a word ESPN says. Anything originally reported by ESPN is fake, and never happens.

Stick to Inside NBA sources and Beat Writers.

Rashidi said...

Knicks don't have a first round pick to offer.

I do not want Carmelo Anthony on the Knicks. He is one of the league's most overrated players, and I don't see how he is a good fit with Stoudemire.

The Knicks need another star, but it has to be a player that fits. I would rather have Gallinari (22) and Chandler (23) continue to develop and look elsewhere (CHRIS PAUL) for the improvement.

I also don't see much point in trading for Melo when they can just sign him as a free agent in the offseason.

Rashidi said...

How does Melo fit into a D'Antoni system? Is he really the power forward you want? (Yes, you read that correctly).

Is giving him a max contract REALLY worth it as opposed to giving Wilson Chandler half that?

Rashidi said...

Everyone in New York is obsessed with star power because the Yankees get to operate with a blank checkbook every offseason since they make billions and there is no cap.

NBA teams need to make frugal decisions to succeed. Teams can set themselves back for a very long time if they make the wrong move. The fans are desperate and want the first warm body, but that doesn't make it smart.

Rashidi said...

I will probably release a roster tonight or tomorrow, depending on my boredom level.

CelphProclaimed said...

Rashidi what do you think the Knicks are going to do with Azubuike when he returns with the way Fields' has been playing?

And I agree, this team is literally one or two pieces away from being a champion, especially if CP3 is one of them.

CP3 and Stoudemire would be the best combination in the NBA in terms of complimenting each others game.

Someone like Joakim Noah down low would complete the team perfectly with Chandler, Gallinari, Fields, Douglas and Turiaf as roleplayers.

CelphProclaimed said...

Furthermore, the Knicks should fire D'Antoni.

Anonymous said...

I hope you're bored tonight, so we can get that update!

thanks

TGballin said...

So your saying the knicks are better off getting cp3 in 2 years if no lockout when as you have pointed out Ny has a PG who's producing well..

Then to get a proven playoff caliber basketball player: who's been to the west finals and put a REAL scare into the Lakers?

You can call him over-rated all you want. But im sure the knicks just want to taste some playoff success THIS year.

it actually reminds me in 08 how the Celtics were irrelevant for so long, put together 3 "over-rated" guys, role players step up and now you have a solid establishment today.

(Raise your hand if your were calling Paul Pierce a HALL OF FAMER. BEFORE the 08 run.)

I think Melo could help amare on the boards, taking clutch shots, and just being someone not named Amare that can draw a double.
who knows they may be able to run a more traditional lineup/offense.

b'c even the NYk know that "The game slows down" in the playoffs.
so we disagree on this one.

interesting topic though.

ATTENTION TO THOSE OF YOU WITHOUT XBOX LIVE

I've uploaded Rashidi's latest rosters (12-05) to mediafire, that being said you need a couple of things for this to help you.

1. A USB/External HDD that is formatted to be used as an XBOX 360 Storage Device.

2. USB Xtaf Xplorer - Freeware.

To format your USB drive as a 360 Storage Device follow these steps.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLoaMzG9Hi4

Once you've got your device formatted, copy your user profile and all of your NBA files over to your new external storage device (you can just copy your NBA files, but you need to actually move your profile)

Next, download USB Xtaf Xplorer, found below.

http://www.mediafire.com/?1d396e7g051csee

Once you've got that downloaded, plug your USB Stick into your PC and open up the new program, then follow these steps.

1. Press Inject.
2. Click File, Open Device (you may get an error, if you do, quit an try again until it works)
3. Double Click 0. {dir}Content
4. Double Click 1. {dir}XXXXXXX (These won't be X's, they'll be random digits and numbers, this is your profile, make sure you click the one that's NOT all 000's.)
6. Double click {dir}5454087A
7. Double click {dir}00000001
8. Now if you've done everything correctly, you will see a list of all your NBA save files that you copied before.
9. Click Inject, navigate to wherever you saved the Roster file and click open.

That's it, wait for the bar to finish loading at the bottom and then you can unplug your device and plug it back into your 360, copy your profile back over to your hard drive and then load up your rosters.

2. USB Xtaf Xplorer - A Small Freeware program which you can download here http://www.mediafire.com/?1d396e7g051csee

Once you've got your USB stick formatted as a Storage Device for your 360 you need to move your user profile over to your new external storage device as well as your saved NBA files. (If you're worried about messing up your saved games you can just makes copies of them instead of moving them, but you need to move your Profile).

Once you've done that unplug your external storage device and plug it into your PC, extract and open USB Xtaf Xplorer and then follow these steps.

1. Click Inject
2. Click File > Open Device (You may get an error, if you do quit and try again, it will work eventually)
3. Double Click on "0. {dir}Content"
4. Double Click on "1. {dir}EXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" (These won't be X's, they will be random digits and numbers, this is your profile, make sure you don't click the one that's all 0's if there's more than 1)
5. Double click on "0. {dir}5454087A"

8. From here click "Inject" and navigate to wherever you saved the Roster File (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0UY6JU1G), Click open and wait for it to finish loading at the bottom.
9. That's it, you can reconnect your storage device to your 360, move your files back to their original places on your 360 and load up Rashidi's rosters.

I've uploaded Rashidi's latest roster file to MegaUpload for those of you who don't have Xbox Live, however you still need a couple of things for this to help you.

1. A USB stick drive/External Hard Drive that is formatted as an Xbox 360 Store Device (very easy to do, follow this video 50 second video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLoaMzG9Hi4)

{dir}5454087A"
6. Double click on "0. {dir}00000001"
7. If you've done everything correctly you'll see a list of all your NBA Save Files (the one's you copied over from your hard drive before)

Rashidi keep doing your thing bro. Been following this blog and the thread on OperationSports forums for a while now. Big Knicks fan since the early 90s. Loving how the chemistry is building for is. Let's see if we can handle Boston's D though.

I just want to tell you dint listen to half these clowns, begging, whining, complaining to you aboutyour rosters. They are your rosters and you have your own formulas. People are never happy even when a man does a more then phenomenal job on rosters. I'm on the PS3 and waiting patiently for the final draft. Patience people, give the guy a break. He breaks his hole for these rosters and yous are never happy.

Just wanted to say what up Rashidi and that you are appreciated brother, atleast up here in the BX you are, Stay up! Have a good holiday.

Rashidi what do you think the Knicks are going to do with Azubuike when he returns with the way Fields' has been playing?

I believe that's why they are trying to trade Bill Walker right now, as he's pretty much a poor man's Azubuike.

CP3 and Stoudemire would be the best combination in the NBA in terms of complimenting each others game.

Someone like Joakim Noah down low would complete the team perfectly with Chandler, Gallinari, Fields, Douglas and Turiaf as roleplayers.

The closest they're going to get is Turiaf though. Those players don't grow on trees. Unless the Knicks overpay for Tyson Chandler in free agency, which isn't likely given his Dallas success (and their deep pockets).

Furthermore, the Knicks should fire D'Antoni.

At this point, it's not gonna happen. They'll at least be a .500 team from here on out, which will be good enough for an extension barring a total collapse.

JJ Redick averaging 14.2 PPG in the month of December. Is he due for a minor upgrade after a career game last night?

So your saying the knicks are better off getting cp3 in 2 years if no lockout when as you have pointed out Ny has a PG who's producing well..

Felton is no CP3 though. Chris Paul is the best pick and roll PG in the league today, and Amare is essentially the best pick and roll big to do it with.

it actually reminds me in 08 how the Celtics were irrelevant for so long, put together 3 "over-rated" guys, role players step up and now you have a solid establishment today.

The difference is KG was a former MVP, and still good enough to be Defensive Player of the Year. The Knicks would not have a third star, would not have an MVP caliber player (former or otherwise), and wouldn't have the same defensive identity.

(Raise your hand if your were calling Paul Pierce a HALL OF FAMER. BEFORE the 08 run.)

Playoff games obviously change that, but it's important to point out that the Hall of Fame qualifications don't have much to do with his level of talent. Melo is about as good as Pierce was, but Amare isn't really at KG's 08 level, and I don't think Gallinari is going to make a Ray Allen type jump with Melo playing his position. They also had a guy named Rondo waiting in the wings. The Knicks don't have any young talent with upside (Fields doesn't really count) aside from Gallinari and Chandler who both play Melo's position. They would need to be traded.

I think Melo could help amare on the boards, taking clutch shots, and just being someone not named Amare that can draw a double.
who knows they may be able to run a more traditional lineup/offense.

We all know D'Antoni will never do that. Melo wouldn't be a 30 point scorer on the Knicks, he probably would only get enough touches to be around 20-22 when you toss in the Amare factor. Let's not forget his numbers are already padded by Denver's fastbreaking system, and that Denver doesn't have a legit 2nd scorer.

No of course not, but that's one reason I'm strongly opposed to going after Carmelo, whenever there's an opportunity to sign someone like that (whether it be 2, 3 or 4 years from now) I'd like the Knicks to have some cap space for once. As you pointed out the only young talent they have is at Carmelo's position so I think we're in agreement the whole plan to go after him is ass backwards from the start in terms of team building.

We've already seen how thin teams like this (3 max players) are spread in terms of depth, I think the Knicks are overlooking they already have invaluable role players all over the place and like you said, are in a big hurry to grab the first warm body that
is available.

"At this point, it's not gonna happen. They'll at least be a .500 team from here on out, which will be good enough for an extension barring a total collapse."

I agree again, that was just my personal thoughts on D'Antoni. I don't think he's going t win a championship unless the Knicks put together the perfect team at the perfect time which I don't see happening given where they seem to be headed.

Can you release a roster update today?

Rashidi said...

Didn't release last night because I realized I'll have all night to continue editing.

Btw I tweaked Gordon's tendencies a bit (including Touch), hopefully that results in fewer shots. Won't really have time to test as I'm working on the other teams.

Croc said...

So will you be releasing a update soon?

Shelb said...

Yao's done for the season/ever.

Rondo'll be out of the rotation for a few weeks too, I believe, although I didn't look into that one.

Bargnani and Calderon are injured, too. Jose with his yearly ankle problem and Bargnani has some soreness in his knee and may sit until he's 100% since there's no reason to Roy him back in.

TGballin said...

I love that Carmelo Anthony is just "a warm body, plays in a stat padded offense, over rated.

love it.

and I wasnt calling bostons big 3 over rated im just saying they had critics not unlike rashidi picking apart they game until they won a ring.

i hope he goes to brooklyn and reminds you x amount of times a year how over rated he is.

not many people are willing to take last second shots even fewer have made multiple GW's.

Shelb said...

I don't remember that much legit concern over Boston's big three. THe only character issues those guys had in the past was a fight for Alpha Dog status (KG was in the right), a nightclub stabbing (PP was in the right) and an incarcerated father (in a world where movies=real life). Boston clicked immediately and were favorites from nearly the minute the trade happened.

Also, Melo is a tad overrated but still a top 15 player in the league. I think Knicks should wait for the off season before taking on that much salary and a player that'd be that big a part of the team. If they continue playing like they are, they might not need Melo.

Anonymous said...

So when the next roster update coming? Prety quite around here.

Rashidi said...

Game winning shots are overrated.

Winning games by 10 points is underrated.

I don't believe anyone is disputing Melo's ability to create h is own shot. It's everything else that's being questioned.

Rashidi said...

PS3 roster is up. I'm still working on 360 version.

Rashidi said...

Progress is slowed a bit by the rash of trade, injuries, and lineup changes that happened over the last few days.

Rockets/Lakers/Nets/Kings trade
Lakers got Bynum back
Celtics lost Rondo for 2 weeks
Bulls lost Noah
Gomes/Baron back to Clipper starting lineup
Bucks starting Ilyasova & CDR now
Billups out a week

Shelb said...

At this exact moment in the season it makes sense to take your time. Real trade season has begun, rest injuries get official and still a bit too early too make a commitment to the streaking teams.

This year it seems there are more streaking teams than ever. It seems some are always feinding for the new roster. The trades so far are minor and very fell throw ins have been a player worth mentioning...

you've made us well aware everything he cant do..
its only fair you tell us each and everthing he does and does well.

caveman,
i disagree with you completely. their were very big critics who questioned ray allen in clutch moments, kg's ability to get out the 1st rd (like tmac) and P.pierce didnt have many critics b'c boston was irrelavant.
nobody questioned their character, they questioned their ability to share one ball.
nobody cares what you do off the court or field its about winning Mike vick perf example.

Rashidi said...

I'm glad I didn't release today, because I only just noticed that Joe Johnson returned from injury like a month ahead of schedule.

Like I said before, lots of lineup changes this week.

Rashidi said...

So now you have to tell us what carmelo does well in your opinion.

He can create his own shot. I'm just not a fan of selfish scorers. I see LeBron and Wade are clicking right now... Melo isn't that type of player, nor is he a monster athlete like those two. He might have more offensive "talent" than both those guys, but because of their super athleticism they are constantly making great plays that ultimately make them more efficient and ultimately better players.

Not to mention both those players are great defensive players thanks to their athleticism. I need a two-way player. It's because I grew up in the Ewing era.

Rashidi said...

i disagree with you completely. their were very big critics who questioned ray allen in clutch moments, kg's ability to get out the 1st rd (like tmac) and P.pierce didnt have many critics b'c boston was irrelavant.

KG's first round criticism was obviously unfounded because they were always facing higher seed teams, and they went to the Conference Finals when KG was league MVP (and were the title favorites until Sam Cassell got hurt).

nobody questioned their character, they questioned their ability to share one ball.

Here's the thing though. Garnett was never a ball hog, he always shared the ball in Minnesota which is where the criticism came from, that he shared too much instead of taking over games. Ray Allen's shooting skills were easily translatable to a lesser role; if anything he was stretched as a go-to scorer because jumpers are always more accurate off the catch than they are off the dribble.

Carmelo Anthony's game is built around being the featured player. He's not a deadly 3pt shooter like Pierce or Allen. He doesn't come off screens. He needs the ball to be effective. The problem is Amare is the same way, pick and rolls not withstanding. Anyone who saw the Heat dismantle the Knicks tonight saw this. Amare does most of his damage on faceup isolations on the elbow, and when you take that away from him he is screwed.

Right now Melo is taking 19 shots to get 24 ppg. Amare by comparison is taking 19 shots to get 27 ppg. Make no mistake, Melo is no godsend on the offensive end.

Durant: 28 ppg on 21 FGA
Amare: 27 ppg on 19 FGA
Kobe: 27 ppg on 20 FGA
Dirk: 25 ppg on 17 FGA
Wade: 24 ppg on 16 FGA
LeBron: 24 ppg on 17 FGA
Eric Gordon: 24 ppg on 17 FGA
Melo: 24 ppg on 19 FGA
Monta: 24 ppg on 20 FGA
Rose: 24 ppg on 20 FGA
Westbrook: 23 ppg on 17 FGA

At the end of the day, Melo isn't the take over scorer that everyone thinks he is. If anything, Amare is the better scorer, which is why I advocate finding a player that better compliments Amare rather than one who is going to create a Kobe/Shaq situation (minus the MVP caliber talent).

...And what Amare needs is a player who can get him the ball in his spots.

Rashidi said...

Pardon me if I'm not excited about this "great" scorer who loves to take the big shot, is a Brooklyn native, and wants to play for the Knicks badly.

Tough to believe this town already forgot about the Marbury era.

Rashidi said...

Look at Kobe & Gasol. They work together because Gasol is completely comfortable taking a back seat. You can run the offense through either player to get the other involved. Gasol normally only takes 13 shots per game to average 18 points (currently 15 shots for 20 points). He and Kobe are currently combining for 47 points on 35 shots. Amare/Melo at present would be combining for 38 shots so we know one of them would have to have their touches reduced.

LeBron/Wade are combining for only 33 shots, toss in Bosh and that's 47 between them. Last year those three combined for 58 shots. Bosh/Wade lost 4 shots, while LeBron lost 3.

Amare might be on Bosh's level, but it's VERY important to note that Melo is NOT on LeBron/Wade's level.

Melo already played with a guy named Allen Iverson and they never got out of round one. Why would a pairing with Amare be any different? Denver didn't have any success until Billups came along and started making other players better (notably Nene, Chris Andersen, and the very same Carmelo Anthony we are currently discussing).

Iverson was a 25 ppg scorer next to Melo but it was an empty 25 ppg because it was inflated by Denver's pace, inefficient due to how many shots he was jacking up to get that 25, and because he wasn't markedly improving his teammates.

The difference between an Amare and an Iverson/Melo is Amare is a finisher, ideally catching the ball close to the rim, not creating offense off the dribble.

Anonymous said...

Stuff is always gonna happen unless you released a roster update when the season is over. Thats why if you release a update every week or a few a week they will always be up to date. Don't know why you care anyway since your current roster is so outdated its unusable right now.

"Iverson was a 25 ppg scorer next to Melo but it was an empty 25 ppg because it was inflated by Denver's pace, inefficient due to how many shots he was jacking up to get that 25, and because he wasn't markedly improving his teammates."

Correct me if I am wrong but didnt AI shoot the ball 17 times per game to average 26.4 PPG? And 7.1 APG? When you have scorers its only natural to up the tempo so everyone can get the adequate amount of shots. Also, AI was always an uptempo player so that is another reason why the pace was higher. Since when did someone with 7 APG not make their teammates better? Iverson never had Birdman, healthy Nene, or a matured (at the time it seemed) JR Smith. Oh, and Melo shot the ball less. Billups is a 3 pt jacker and can control the tempo but how does he make his teammates better? Since your such a stat guru, let me see what stats will prove me wrong. I respect your bball knowledge but I gotta disagree with this.

Nice rosters by the way.

Magic are the first team in history to fire their players instead of their coach.

Rashard Lewis definitely deserves to be fired.

Todays trades are interesting in the sense that all teams now have gluts at the positions they just traded for.

In fact, Orlando has no backup center. With four point guards, one has to believe they are far from done.

If I were Donnie Walsh I'd be offering Mozgov for Duhon or J-Will.
