Revisiting NBA 2K13's Rookie Ratings

2K Sports has hyping up their "Dynamic Rosters" and partnership with Stats Inc for NBA 2K14 ad-nausea.  I'll be keeping a close eye on the frequency of 2K's roster updates throughout the year, particularly for lesser-knowns with limited data available (i.e. rookies).

Here's a reminder of just how lazy 2K Sports has been regarding rookies.

Aside from numerous rating inaccuracies, here are some notes to take from this data:

• 37 rookies experienced no ratings change.
• Only 9 rookies saw ratings change (not including position-based OVR changes)
• Only 5 rookies saw "major" change (+/- 5 Overall): Dion Waiters, Damian Lillard, Andre Drummond, Maurice Harkless, and Evan Fournier.
• Only 2 rookie saw ratings decrease: Terrence Ross and Royce White (who didn't even play a game).
• Only 1 second rounder saw ratings change: Jae Crowder (+1)
• There was 1 player never even added to the game during the year: Kevin Murphy
• Only 2 rookies saw more than one update throughout the season: Damian Lillard and Andre Drummond

One can only hope that Stats Inc will churn out a better product than what 2K Sports has been putting out over the past decade.
