NBA 2K11 Player Ratings (Partial List)

These ratings were acquired by surfing 2K Sports' league website for NBA 2K11, which you can do here.

There are ratings for 12 teams, and I've created lists by team, and by position.

What do you guys think of the job 2K did this summer? Who is over/underrated?

To compare to Rashidi's Player Ratings for 2K11, click here.

1st to comment, will i be able to edit player ratings? 3 queens ratings too high.

Anonymous said...

Garbage Miami Heat. looks like 2k trying make them own. we must tone their ratings down by 3 for jame wade and bosh. LBJ not even near Kobe so how can be he even be near MJ 98 rating? Lebron cant win without superstars! he got o neal andtawn jamaison mo williams on his team. Cavaliers got 1st in season. Should have got 1st in playoffs but lebron has no skills to make it in playoffs thats why. LOSER! he dont deserve 97 when he cant even carry his team to a ring!

Isn't NBA 2k10 rating ?

Think is not the official rating for 2k11.

Anonymous said...

your right, its not....

Anonymous said...

Are you serious? LeBron deserves his rating from his overall skill...don't blame the game guy...and the need superstars crack, ummmm Kobe needed Shaq and then Gasol...D Wade needed who??? lol...Know your basketball fam

Anonymous said...

ok guys calm down everybody s talking about LBJ... but after a quick view i can say that delfino, ilyasova, noah and eddie house are underrated ... maybe jennings ...

Rashidi said...

These are 2K11 ratings.

What, you thought 2K was going to update them this summer? Most are exactly where they left them in June.

SOME are updated, but most are the same.

And yes, LBJ, Wade, and Bosh have the same ratings in 2K10 (ironically, people complain about me having them too high when the reality is I've lowered all three 2 points each).

Mike said...

People are quick to forget Kobe needed a superstar too. Shaq wasn't a pushover when he was a Laker.

Gasol deserved Finals MVP in my opinion as well.

Judging by just the overall won't help either. The ratings could be perfectly fine in detail. Maybe 2K has a new formula for determining overall rating in 2K11.

Dare I say Lebron is that good and people just don't want to accept it because they're angry with him at the moment?

P.S. Joel Anthony is underrated. haha

Am I the only one that thinks that jamal crawford needs a lil more love?

76?

He's putting up impressive stats as a 6th man.

Rashidi said...

Crawford is a TERRIBLE defensive player though.

Anonymous said...

LEborn james cant even win a title with shaq jamaison and mo williams.
he deserve to be 95 not 97. i will definitely give him that rating.

Anonymous said...

lbj is the best basketball player out there now no doubt about it so everyone stop hateing on him

Scott23 said...

stephen curry went down one?...i dont believe that, hes my boy and shouldve atleast gone up or stayed the same at 81....look out for scott23 and stephen curry online we gets nasty

Anonymous said...

lol not even GOD could win a championship with an old over the hill Shaq and shoot only Mo Williams...come on dude...it's ok if you just don't like the dude but it's no excuse to be ignorant of the fact that he is the best OVERALL player

HEAT

WE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!
WHO?? WE NI99A!!!!!!!!!

Ya Boy said...

PLEASE update Durant from 88 like in 2k10. hes the NBA scoring leader and hes not even 90s? also He is NOT the same skill level as Brandon Roy who is 88

Anonymous said...

andre iggy,boozer,joe johnson= to high

b.jennings to low.
and i disagree w/ g.oden being rated higher then j.noah. (right now, i know oden COULD be great one day)

Anonymous said...

mike called gasol a superstar. ok.

Mike said...

Well you might not agree, and it's definitely up for debate. I still feel as if Gasol doesn't get the recognition he deserves because there is a man named Kobe Bryant on the team.

I've always felt guards and slashers get more attention than big men and post players just because they might be funner to watch. But you can't deny Gasol does a TREMENDOUS amount of work for the Lakers.

He also does more than his stats show in my opinion. I'm not even a Laker fan and I can admit this.

Go Heat.

Shelb said...

Oden is better than Noah. When Oden plays he's probably the second/third best Center in the league. His problem is injuries, not talent.

And Gasol is a superstar level player. The fact his PPG average has dropped so little and his RPG average actually raised since he went from being the number one guy on his team to playing number two to Kobe on the talent heavy Lakers should be enough proof.

Anonymous said...

oden better then noah?
and your basing this on how many games played?

lmfao.
you should rephrase that to oden is 'bigger' then noah.

bill parcells once said:
potential means u aint dont shit.
assuming oden gets thru half a season then judge not based on 10 -15 games wtf.

Shelb said...

I was basing this on potential. I'm basing it on performance in games when Oden has played.

Noah is a fantastic player: one of my favourites in the league in fact (be fan of the scrappy never say die players). However, Oden when healthy is one of the best big men in the L.

He's played more than 10-15 games. Yes, he missed a season and of a possible 164 only played 82 (or exactly a season) but in those games he is a defensive force rarely seen and does his job on the offensive end.

Not saying that Noah won't be the better player at the end of the day, because Oden really could spend the rest of his career going 1-3 in terms of games but right now I'd trade Noah for Oden based both on performance and potential.

Im trying to gauge your credibility. Do you post anywhere? Where can I find your methodology because from the looks of your roster there is some disconnect between the context behind those stats.

How do you account for guys who have to create their own shot because you have Kobes midrange game low.

You say you use synergy but synergy on its own is useless especially defensively. Have you accounted for expected results based on the opposition? I know I have for alot of players and I dont see those results in your rosters. This is why Im asking if you post anywhere.

I know you put in the time but Ive never seen you in the blogosphere.

Rashidi said...

1. Kobe's mid-range shot is not low. He has 88 Close, 85 Med, and 79 Shoot Off Dribble. The average starting SG has 74 Close, 76 Med, and 67 Shoot Off Dribble so Kobe is clearly a big step above the rest.

2. I'm curious as to how someone can question my credibility without knowing the purpose of the Shoot Off Dribble and Shoot In Traffic ratings. Those ratings have been in 2K for years and their purpose should be fairly obvious. They're what separate the Kobes (85 Med, 79 SOD, 68 SIT) from the Korvers (86 Med, 37 SOD, 37 SIT).

3. What makes it "useless" defensively? I've found it to be extremely effective since it gives play by play context.

4. I lurk a few blogs, I don't really have time to post on all of them, some of which...
http://knickerblogger.net/
http://www.blazersedge.com/
http://www.celticsblog.com/
http://www.depressedfan.com/
http://www.goldenstateofmind.com/
http://www.magicbasketball.net/

...are a few on the list. I stick mostly to forums when discussing 2K ratings.

Anonymous said...

kobe aint even won a championship without a superstar so how could you even say lebron needs a superstar to win

Chronz said...

1. Obviously by low I dont mean relative to the league in your roster update so providing me with league averages in your world doesnt cover my comment.

2. "I'm curious as to how someone can question my credibility without knowing the purpose of the Shoot Off Dribble and Shoot In Traffic ratings"
WOW it didnt take long for you to start reaching with the insults. So now because I say his midrange shooting is low it means I didnt know of their existence? Out of curiosity why wouldnt you assume I also implied that those traits were too low?

3. I told you what made it useless, it doesnt provide play by play context, you must APPLY the context by breaking down the footage. I have, Im wondering if you have. If you have could you please direct me there.

4. Do you post under the moniker Rishidi?

Again where is your methodology, saying there is context involved isnt enough. Ive seen your rosters, while they are an upgrade on 2K's, that doesnt say much.

Anonymous said...

I can bet my hand, these are not the 2k11 ratings.

Yes, they are from the 2k11 test leagues. But there are a lot of players missing and they are 99% the same as 2k10 and I bet these are the ratings from an early early build.

These will not be the final ratings

Rashidi said...

1. What is "low" about an 85 rating then?

2. I wasn't insulting you, but if you're going to openly question my credibility, you should be able to take what you dish out.

3. Are you asking me to spend a few hours watching every individual play, spend a few hours providing in-depth analysis of each play, and post it out of the goodness of my heart?

4. Usually.

5. My methodology is the same as 2K's, minus the biases and general laziness. I haven't invented a new system, I've merely taken their's and run with it.

rashidi-
have you seen the association insight for 2k11?

I want to thank you for your simulations and some things you observed and reported here.
(i have a feeling they have seen this blog a time or two)
when you ran your sims and was talking about association:
the trade logic being flawed, to many lower seed playoff upsets. player progression, potential...
basiclly all those things we spoke of at length have been addressed by 2k.(barring any unforeseen bugs/errors)
while i dont always like you personally, i agree w/ how you go about rosters.

good luck in 2010-2011 and watch out for big brother.

Haven't seen it yet, will try to find time to watch it.

"LEborn james cant even win a title with shaq jamaison and mo williams."

LMMMFFAOOOOO

this is BY FAR the most hilarious shit I've read in a while. I hope you were being facetious when you typed this out. Shaq and Jamison had a combined age of like 147. Jamison is THE softest player in the league, dude is absolutely terrified of contact in the lane. MO WILLIAMS? MATADOR DEFENSE MO WILLIAMS? Are you f'n KIDDING me? Please shut your stupid ass up, if you weren't joking...and don't EVER talk about basketball again, please. PLEASE.

Anonymous said...

lebron james deserve 87 cos he is worse than KD!

Shelb said...

Screw it, Rashidi, please every one happy, just make every player a 75 and call it a day.

Chronz said...

1. We will get to your rosters soon enough.

2. Very well, dont worry I never take this stuff personal.

3. Certainly not out of the goodness of your heart, for the love of the game, both virtual and real. Im not saying to do it for every play set but the ones that require context. A player being wide open and hitting a shot is self explanatory, but when you start delving into quantifying the defensive ability of a player, knowing the counterparts production isnt enough. You need to know WHO the counterpart was and the expected success rate.

Holding Jason Collins scoreless in post up situations isnt as impressive as holding Duncan down. Yet synergy will simply show you 2 players who defended at an equally impressive rate. This is just one of the examples. It doesnt always make a big difference but if your trying to set yourself apart, wouldnt such accuracy be an upgrade nonetheless?

5. Well then could you direct me to 2k's system because I have no idea how they value shot creation either.

What I mean when I ask for your methodology is, Im basically asking you how do you account for the subjective nature of statistics. Where do you draw the line between efficiency and usage?

For example PER and WinShares are 2 of the most known metrics that attempt to account for those aforementioned aspects. One is a usage based statistic that can overrate chuckers, the other focuses on guys who maximize their possessions. The 2 offer a great contrast in styles that paint a decent picture of a players contributions.

These are the 2 main issues pertaining to the APBR movement, and since you pride yourself on what that movement is all about, its only logical that I question what is you know about the field. Im not an expert by any stretch, but I have been a part of the basketball blogosphere for the better half of this decade. Ive spent years debating the sport with some of the best minds out there, the fact that Ive never seen or heard of you outside this community doesnt inspire faith. Of course all this could be meaningless to you, I just want to make sure you know where Im coming from.

I do take this into account, but it takes a great deal of time to jot all this information down. I actually did this on 2K forum comparing Kobe and Artest's Iso defense in the playoffs.

Durant
vs Artest: 6-23 FG, 3 TO, 2 fouls
vs Kobe: 2-2 FG, 2 TO

Durant only scored 30% of time vs Artest compared to 50% vs Kobe (in a much smaller sample).

Synergy shows that Artest always guards the tougher perimeter player, which means his defensive stats (0.66 PPP on Isos, good for 19th) are to be taken much more seriously than Kobe's 0.74 PPP or whatever it is (something like 75th IIRC). Kobe did a pedestrian job against Russell Westbrook (2-5 FG, 1 foul) and Grant Hill (3-7 FG, 1 And1). He wasn't getting destroyed by Rondo/WB like Fisher, but that doesn't mean he's a lockdown defensive player like Artest, Battier, etc.

Holding Jason Collins scoreless in post up situations isnt as impressive as holding Duncan down.

I just thought this was funny in the sense that Jason Collins is one of the few centers in the NBA who attempted 0 post-ups last year. It's a valid point, and one that I took into consideration while viewing the data.

Yet synergy will simply show you 2 players who defended at an equally impressive rate.

Synergy allows us to look at the individual play data (i.e. who the player was matched up with).

I wouldn't even bother with PER/WS, as it's clear just from USG% who the players are that force the action and those who don't. Which is not to say I use Usage to determine anything other than "Shot Tendency".

Player Tendencies (how the CPU controls the players, completely unrelated to ratings) is the main thing that Synergy allowed me to adjust - the majority of my ratings were done well before I had Synergy data access. I have the CPU playing smarter than 2K does, which is just another advantage to my rosters over theirs (since it's been long-since established that their ratings are crap year after year).
