Philadelphia 76ers Ratings

The Sixers were one of the more difficult teams to determine player positions, due to a small roster, versatile players, and 2009 circumstances.

Position Data via 82games.com
PG - Miller (75%), Williams (24%)
SG - Green (42%), Williams (24%), Ivey (19%), Iguodala (11%), Rush (2%)
SF - Iguodala (69%), Young (22%), Green (3%), Rush (3%), Ivey (1%)
PF - Young (42%), Evans (23%), Brand (17%), Speights (10%), Marshall (4%), Iguodala (1%)
C - Dalembert (51%), Speights (21%), Ratliff (14%), Brand (6%), Evans (5%)

Lou Williams effect
Williams will spend all his mins at PG with Miller gone.
Ivey should see PG mins again with Miller gone, though he'll surely continue to see most of his time as off-guard in Williams' (and even Jrue Holiday's) lineups.
Unless Iguodala moves back to SG (bumping Willie Green to the bench) we consider Jason Kapono a SG (where he saw most of his time in Toronto this season). He otherwise won't get any SF mins with Iggy and Young taking up 91% of them last season.

Elton Brand Returns Effect
Brand played only 29 games which had a huge impact. Let's say Brand is healthy enough to play in 73 games (2.5x more). He would have played 43% of the team's PF mins, and 15% of the C mins.
Evans, Marshall, and Ratliff are gone, which opens up 27% at PF and 19% at C.
That leaves -1% PF (Young/Speights easily fill the PF void), and 10% C mins available (which logically go right to Speights).
Primoz Brezec and the returning Jason Smith are unlikely to see much time, ala Kareem Rush and Donyell Marshall.

That's how I came up with the positions.

So, without further adieu, the ratings.

Outlook: If Iguodala's ever going to have a breakout season, now's the time. He's being paid like an all-star, and now it's time for him to deliver or dark times will be ahead in Philadelphia.

Outlook: Has missed 125 games over the last 2 seasons, which probably means we're not not going back to the 20/10 player he used to be. Unfortunately, that's probably what he would need to do for this team to make the playoffs. 17 and 8 is probably a reasonable prediction if he stays healthy.

Outlook: Falling out of favor because he doesn't fit in the Princeton offense, but his defense and rebounding is also what holds this undersized team together.

Outlook: Before I hear the complaints, he rates an 83 as a SF. He doesn't see much time there because Iguodala is an ironman. He is a very good scorer at the PF position, and among the best perimeter defenders there, but he's obviously hurt by his rebounding and post defense (since he's a natural SF). He'll be the sixth man again until Brand breaks down.

Outlook: If Brand isn't good to go, Speights is capable of handling the increased minutes despite being only 22 years of age. He's more or less a poor man's Brand at the moment.

Outlook: Suspect PG ability and poor shooting will likely make this a frustrating season for Sixer fans. Of course with my luck, he'll likely average 20 and 5.

Outlook: One of the least efficient players in the game today, and not a good defensive player either. Philadelphia will almost certainly contend for the worst starting backcourt in the league.

Outlook: Kyle Korver part deux. The only quality shooter on the worst shooting team in the league, which will guarantee him a rotation spot regardless of his other shortcomings (i.e. the rest of his game).

Outlook: Philly didn't have a good bench last year, and with Lou Williams being promoted to the starting lineup, and replaced by a 19 year old rookie, it's looking a whole lot worse. This isn't a knock on Holiday (who is a much better defensive player and could always steal the starting job from Williams), just stating the reality of the situation.

Outlook: Missed all of 2009 with a torn ACL. That, coupled with the fact that he wasn't very good prior to the injury, do not spell a long NBA career.
