76ers Association

The 2k server is acting up really bad on XBox so I can't see how my file is doing, or play anybody online. I'm a little edited out today. So I'm gonna start a Sixers association (since they're the only team I 100% completed).

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

GENERAL
Last season: 40-42
Average Age: 26
Team Salary: 67.24M
Cap Room: -8.56M

RANKINGS
Overall 67
Offense 65
Defense 86

KEY PLAYERS
#42 Elton Brand (PF)
Personality: Laid Back
Rating: 92
Age: 29
Contract: 5 yrs / 79.79M

#9 Andre Iguodala (SG)
Personality: Laid Back
Rating: 87
Age: 24
Contract: 6 yrs / 80.00M

#7 Andre Miller (PG)
Personality: Neutral
Rating: 85
Age: 32
Contract: 1 yrs, 10.00M

Overall, a solid core. Iggy's entering his prime, Brand is still there, and Miller is just exiting his. The younger two are signed long term, while the Sixers will potentially have a tough decision to make with Miller going forward.

Rest of team
81 Samuel Dalembert (C)
78 Louis Williams (PG)
77 Willie Green (SG)
76 Thaddeus Young (SF)
76 Marreese Speights (C)
74 Kareem Rush (SG)
73 Reggie Evans (PF)
73 Theo Ratlff (C)
72 Donyell Marshall (PF)
72 Royal Ivey (PG)
70 Jason Smith (C)

A nice combination of role players and depth. Shooting is the team's weakness. Only Marshall and Rush truly excel at it but are fairly one-dimensional. The one player who could really thrive here is Lou Williams. Fyi I'm starting Green over Young as I anticipate the "Young" one is better suited to an energy role off the bench. Green doesn't mesh too well with Lou Williams off the bench since they both provide guard scoring.

Enough. You guys know the deal with Philly. Let's just sim a game already!

October 29th: Philadelphia vs Toronto

76ers squeak by Raptors 123-122 in OT (Oct 29)

What a start to the season! Every other Atlantic team lost their first game so Philly is in 1st place. I'm doing a great job! :P

Sixers
Green: 25 pts (11-17 FG), 28 mins
Brand: 21 pts, 13 rebs, 4 ast, 3 stl, 4 blk (9-17 FG)
Iggy: 20 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast, 5 TO (8-19 FG)
Young: 14 pts (5-7 FG, 4-4 FT), 24 mins
Miller: 14 pts, 6 ast (4-12 FG, 6-6 FT)
Dalembert: 7 pts, 11 reb, 3 blk
Rush: 7 pts, 10 mins
Speights: 2 pts, 6 reb, 9 mins

Solid showing from Mr. Green, and Brand played like a star. The team had a very balanced effort. Young sparked the bench and had the highest +/- rating on the team (+21)

Raptors
Bosh 28 pts, 10 reb, 4 ast (11-22 FG)
Parker 24 pts, 10 reb, 3 ast (8-14 FG, 5-6 3pt)
Bargnani: 20 pts (8-18 FG, 4-5 3pt) 23 mins
O'Neal: 19 pts, 6 reb, 2 ast, 3 stl, 3 blk (8-18 FG)
Calderon: 7 pts, 12 ast, 3 stl (3-12 FG)

Toronto shot 14-19 from 3pt range! Unfortunately, they only shot 33-82 on 2pters.

Let's sim the season.

END OF SEASON AWARDS
MVP: Dwyane Wade (26.5 ppt, 3.6 rpg, 8.0 apg, 1.5 spg, 0.2 bpg, .512 FG%, 82 games played)
ROY: Russell Westbrook (15.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.6 spg)
6MY: Rashard Lewis (19.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 28.0 mpg) CUZ 2k has him and Turkoglu at SF that's why!
DPY: Kevin Garnett (20.1 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.4 spg, 2.5 bpg)
MIP: Steven Hunter (3.1 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 2.1 bpg) (I guess that beats 2.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, and 0.3 bpg from year before)

All-NBA First Team: Paul, Wade, LeBron, KG, Howard
All-NBA Second Team: Kidd, Roy, Melo, Dirk, Brad Miller
All-NBA Third Team: Deron, Manu, Pierce, Bosh, Bynum

All-Defense First: Kidd, Iguodala, J-Smoove, KG, Howard
All-Defense Second: Paul, Manu, AK47, Al Jefferson, Bynum

All-Rookie First: Westbrook, Mayo, Greene, Beasley, Oden
All-Rookie Second: Chalmers, Lee, Gallinari, Love, B. Lopez

COY: Erik Spoelstra (Heat)
EOY: Danny Ainge (Celtics - No, it's not really Ainge, some guy named Cameron Park)

TRADE OFFERS
Lorenzen Wright + 2nd Rounder for Theo Ratliff
Grant Hill + 1st Rounder for Thaddeus Young
Maurice Ager + Trenton Hassell for Reggie Evans
Joey Graham + 1st Rounder for Thaddeus Young
Brent Barry + Steve Francis for Louis Williams
Bill Walker + Glen Davis for Jason Smith
Francisco Elson + 2nd Rounder for Jason Smith
Julian Wright + 1st Rounder for Marreese Speights
Alando Tucker for Royal Ivey
Devin Brown + 2nd Rounder for Kareem Rush
C.J. Miles + Jarron Collins for Reggie Evans
Hassan Adams for Theo Ratliff
Andres Nocioni + Aaron Gray for Samuel Dalembert

None of these were particularly appealing. I thought about Grant Hill for a second but ultimately turned it down because I figured the 1st rounder would only be in the 20s. Young ultimately has more upside and he has to be looked at as the SF of the future.

PLAYOFF BRACKETS

1 Hornets
8 Warriors

4 Lakers
5 Mavericks

3 Jazz
6 Spurs

2 Rockets
7 Suns

1 Heat
8 Knicks

4 Pistons
5 Hawks

3 Celtics
6 Magic

2 Bobcats
7 76ers

Yep, we disappointed and are the 7th seed again. Good thing we faced the Bobcats, who were dispatched in 6 games!

SECOND ROUND BRACKETS

8 Warriors (yep, they did it again)
4 Lakers

6 Spurs
2 Rockets

1 Heat
4 Pistons

3 Celtics
7 Sixers

Ick, the divsion champs. They swept Philly including a 51 point blowout in game 4. Actually every game was a blow out, "best" loss was by 11.

CONFERENCE FINALS
4 Lakers
6 Spurs

1 Heat
3 Celtics

Lakers/Spurs are nothing new. Heat led by MVP Wade and Beasley against the Big 3 should be an interesting one.

NBA FINALS
Lakers vs Celtics

Yeah, again.

FINALS MVP: Kobe Bryant (26.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 5.5 apg, 1.9 spg)

Bout time M I RITE?

RETIREMENTS: Cassell and Mutombo

COACH RETIREMENTS: Oh joy, my least favorite feature returns!
Jerry Sloan
George Karl
Rick Adelman
Mike Dunleavy
Maurice Cheeks

Yeah, I agree, this is one of the stupidest features in a video game ever. Cheeks just signed an extension in real life btw. He was also only an 8 year coach. WHAT THE HELL. Just like that 5 NBA coaches GONE. NO ****ING SENSE WHATSOEVER.

Ahem. Miller agreed to re-sign for cheap (13 million over 2 years) so I brought him back. I wouldn't have had the cap room to sign another free agent guard. Linas Kleiza signed for the MLE. He and my two rookies essentially replaced Rush, Marshall, Ratliff, and Ivey on the roster.

What did we learn from this? Well, the Sixers aren't a sure thing to have a huge improvement. They still managed to get to the 2nd round, which is what the team is ultimately expected to do this year, so it wasnt a total lost year.

That Rashard Lewis thing pissed me off right away, that's something you should notice right away in game testing. Lewis was a PF the entire year last year, why wouldn't you change his position?

Oh, Elton Brand. They didn't edit him at all between this year and last. His tendencies were exactly the same, which means he doesn't take enough shots (shot tendencies mostly went up to differentiate further the stars and scrubs). This isn't to say I hadn't updated his tendencies when I edited him - I should make it clear I'm editing both tendencies and ratings - it seems I didn't update him enough. Then again, maybe I edited him perfectly, because coming off surgery at age 30 he may not be a 20 pt guy anymore. We won't really find out until they start playing the games.

That was hilarious, you should do stuff like this more often.

Sounds good.

I'd probably wait until the Tinsley situation is resolved before I tackle the Pacers.

Rashidi, I notice Kobe isn't on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team All NBA??

This issue plagued 2K8. Kobe would NEVER be 1st team all NBA?

Rashidi said...

Nice catch, I didn't notice that.

The Blazers didn't even make the playoffs and Roy still made 2nd team. I didn't check the player stats, I'll do that next time.

My guess is Kobe's team is so good that it affected his stats. I still don't see how he could have put up worse numbers than Roy or Ginobili though. Maybe he got injured?

Dude, really good work. I'm a big 2K fan but I've never seen anybody put this amount of work into getting the game right. Thanks and I'll be sure to keep reading.

In 2K8, this always used to happen. Kobe would never be an All NBA player, and never really in the MVP running... I wonder what makes this happen?

Rashidi said...

I never had a problem getting Kobe on the All-NBA First Team.

However LeBron would always beat him out for MVP due to his stats.
