Houston, we have a problem. There are 69 players with Touch 60-99 vs 250 players with Touch 20-49. There is simply too much separation from a few select players and everyone else, which is leading to the shot imbalances.

This is not to say just lowering the higher ups is a blanket solution. The problem seems to be a little more widespread and specific than that... best illustrated by breaking it down by positions.

PGs are all extremely low, whereas PF/C are all extremely high. I understand 2K was trying to get more post play (and thus a "sim" game), but gone are the days of the 80s and 90s when post players dominated the league. It's pretty clear now that positions affected their rating scale. Nevermind that we've got discrepancies like Roy Hibbert being Indiana's go-to guy instead of Danny Granger. We've got Spencer Hawes getting more plays than Andre Iguodala; Darko Milicic getting as many plays as Tyreke Evans; Andris Biedrins and Ben Wallace getting more plays than Kevin Martin,

I heard one of my detractors say all that's needed is some edits to key players... that would honestly depend on your definition of "some", because to me, it looks like more than half of the league is off by at least 10 points. Which is why I was "testing" different values in the first place.

WTF, most on these touches ratings are outta control. 2k fails once again my god man. I think 2k should of not implement this tendency i think its just causing too much of a headache. Damn rashidi good luck man.

Updated post with my analysis.

honestly im glad you do all the testing reguardless.

Rashidi, the analysis you do goes way above and beyond all expectation. Players like us who could never deconstruct the ratings and their effect on gameplay owe you a tremendous amount. I know you have a lot more to test, but are you still planning a PS3 roster for us poor folk? Cannot wait to play this game at the level of accuracy seemingly only you can bring.

If you want to share, what is your plan for fixing this now?

Rashidi said...

First, I actually want to implement my coach sliders (something I should have done in the first place) because that has just as much of an effect.

I kinda have a touch scale in my brain but haven't put it to paper yet. There are a number of things I need to catch up on.

I think if you want a truly realistic game you need to adjust in this order.

Coach Slider
Player Playbooks
Ratings and Tendencies
Game Sliders

The absolute hugest crime is Carlos Boozers utter dominance over the Bulls. If anyone has played My Player as a member of the Chicago team they know how inordinately frustrating it is to see every single damn play be a Booz post-up or iso.
